I think I'm making some headway on speeding up the fueling from the jugs. Alan, if you get a chance see what we can do on the car side to help the fuel tank vent more quickly.

Umm... I'm not sure there is much I can do on the car side, but I'll take a look at it. Do you still want me to model the cap?

new turbo is in
new belts are in
Wheel studs are in, no lug nuts yet
new master cylinder is in (it was $38 so I figured we might as well replace it)
and by in I mean arrived not installed

I should be able to help work on the car on Sunday this weekend.

Also, I don't think you need to model the cap yet.

For the turbo-to-downpipe bolts, do we want to try some more sophisticated locknuts? There are some nice ones here on McMaster Carr's webpage.

Are we working both Saturday and Sunday? The hardware is yet to come in. We still need to decide on coil packs and tires too. As for the locknuts, will the nylon melt?

We would use the "distorted thread" locknuts.

This weekend
9AM start

  • Mount tires:  Alan will we have tires by Saturday?
  • Install turbo:  Cass is drilling the bolts, the gaskets are in the "gasket box," do we have a turbo?
  • Wire up abs sensor:  I will bring my extra wire.  It is thicker though, will that be an issue with the signal due to extra resistance?
  • Finish fuel lines:  Do we have enough fuel line?  I will bring hose clamps if I have small ones.
  • Install harness
  • Coil pack 2.0 conversion:  Alan, have you ordered the parts for this?  If not, we can wait until next race.

Add on what I have missed.

We have to do an alignment, test the cooling system with the new thermostat (make sure we have enough DI water), and tune the brake system

Tires and coil packs should be here next week.
I picked up the missing turbo fittings so that will be good to go.

Ok, let's get another update on where everyone is.

Please update on the following items:

Tires
Thermostat components
Gasket for turbo oil return
Race harness
anything else that I am missing...

Eric's truck:

Eric, do you have all of the parts that you need for us to install your brake controller? Also, what other work do you want to to on it this weekend?

18Sears Pointless - March 21-22 Empty Re: Sears Pointless - March 21-22 Thu Mar 12, 2015 9:18 am

Alan

I have all of those things and I have installed none of them

I started working on my truck and have 1 caliper, rotor, and pads replaced. I am hoping to finish the 2nd one after work today. Also on the to do list is to replaced the rear pads, take off inspect and reinstall the tow hitch with brand new hardware, install the brake controller, and give the truck a thorough once over inspection. I have all the parts required.

On another note, I have a commitment on Saturday and will not be able wrench. I will be available on Sunday.

Alan,

I plan on being at your place at 9AM Saturday just like last weekend. I would say the #1 focus is to get the engine running. If we can get it running and keeping its fluids on the inside, we can do the rest at the track if need-be.

Update me when you guys get a chance today. Currently my truck is undriveable, but I hope that Kimia can help me bleed brakes late tonight so I can drive to Sac tomorrow.

So I should prep the Audi to drive to the track?

Side note, the new tires are um sticky

We will know tomorrow. It may need to happen if we can't defeat the rust

Sticky is good. How did you test them out? At the empty neighborhood?
