Well, we had quite a productive day.

Alan is going to order the hose we need from Amazon. Apparently OReilly only sells it in 1ft lengths. We are going to target a track day on 4/24, which means it needs to be running next weekend. I will be in Portland next weekend so I will not be able to work.

Based on past experiences, I am going to assume this comment is sarcastic.

Alan -
Do you think you will have time to do some of the smaller remaining items this week?  Check pads, rewire starter, tighten water hoses, replace transmission isolator?

Registration is at the track, no need to preregister.
I'll go over the car this week.

50/50 on me having some time on Saturday to rewire the starter. Alan, do you think the wire currently running to the momentary switch taped to the gear selector base could handle the amps for the starter?

I'll take a look at it when I get home

The wire to the starter switch looks beefy enough

Should I go after those ugly 17" XJR wheels sitting at the dismantler in Vallejo?

12Thunderhill July (or something) Empty Re: Thunderhill July (or something) Tue May 03, 2016 5:37 pm

Alan

They aren't ugly, they are just unique. I vote yes, but we don't need to overpay for them.

Of course, the dismantler is only open weekdays until 5pm. I am trying to find time to get out there.

I am probably not going to have the RX8 ready for the Buttonwillow Track day on 6/4-5. Are we thinking of taking Fluffy down there or try for a closer one?

Where in Vallejo is this place? I drive into Sac every weekend and I leave Oakland about 3:45 so there's a chance I could get there before 5 depending on where it is.
Are the rims with tire or bare?

Bare rims at Pacific Auto Salvage Inc.

American Canyon, CA 94503

I will forward you my email correspondence with them. They close at 5pm.

So what is left on our list to do? What time are we starting on Saturday? I am planning on bringing my truck and the wheels sitting on the side of my house. Do we need anything else?

Let's start at 9.

Things to do:
Clean up wiring
Install cool seat
Mount new tires
Lower seat
Check fluids

9 works for me. I will bring my truck for the tire mountings. Do I need to bring anything for the wiring or lowering seat?

I do not have those in my inventory but should I look online? Or will need to get those custom made?

I thought you did, I'll look into ordering a set.

Also 255/45R17 RS3s are $128 on tire rack right now, if we want to add some tire

24Thunderhill July (or something) Empty Re: Thunderhill July (or something) Thu Jul 21, 2016 10:57 am

Install, strap down and wire the cool seat pump and ice chest.
Go through the car and make sure that everything still works.
Check all fluids.
Find and install a battery.

Rewire the fuel pump relays on Fluffy 2 so that it starts up and runs better.
Refill Fluffy 2 with PWS fluid and AC coolant.

I will bring the RX8 battery to see if that will work.
I will also bring the seat mounts that I have.
